Lighting of Sports Fields

Town Council approved new standards governing the lighting of sports fields in Oakville in spring 2010. The town-wide standard for the lighting of sports fields minimizes the impact on existing established neighbourhoods while allowing for light levels to provide a safe playing environment on fields after dark.

The policy defines requirements for site plan approval for all future sports field lights with the town. In addition, Council approved an amendment to the town's Nuisance By-law 2010-070 to address the hours of operation of sports field lighting.
