Photography in Parks
Oakville has many beautiful parks and gardens that provide the perfect backdrop for your special occasion.
A photography permit must be obtained by individuals wishing to conduct a formal photoshoot on municipal property.

The following are picturesque locations popularly used for taking wedding photos in Oakville.
Locations that require a permit
- Bronte Butterfly Gazebo at Bronte Harbour Park
A picturesque waterfront park located on Ontario Street below Lakeshore Road. The Bronte Butterfly Gazebo is an ideal spot for a wedding ceremony or photography.
- Erchless Estate
Historic gardens that overlook Oakville Harbour and feature a rock garden and 10,000 annuals on display between June and September. Perennials reflect the 1920s period.
- Gairloch Gardens
Extensive rose gardens and 15,000 annuals that bloom between June and September.
- Oakville Municipal Greenhouse and Conservatory
A beautiful tropical plant environment featuring Caribbean and South American tropical plants.
Locations that do not require a permit
- Nottinghill Park
Four perennial flower beds in bloom from April to October including an ornamental grass collection and 7,500 annuals.
- Shell Park
More than 500 blooming roses between June and September and 10,000 annuals in flower from May to September.
Please note, restoration work will take place on the grounds of the Oakville Museum during the fall of 2016. The work will refurbish the stone steps in the rock garden on the southern slope of the property. The work is will restrict access to this area of the property for photography. Other areas of the Oakville Museum property will remain available for photography. Clients are encouraged to visit all prospective photography sites prior to requesting permits and scheduling photo shoots.
A photography permit must be obtained by individuals wishing to conduct a wedding photography on municipal property as indicated above.
Wedding photography permits are issued in 90 minute intervals, including arrival and departure times.
Parking at all recommended photography locations is limited and not guaranteed. Parking, if available is restricted to designated areas only. Vehicles are not allowed on any grassed areas.
There is no access to indoor facilities or washrooms at any of the recommended photography locations.
All third-party sponsors, suppliers and vendors invited by the event organizer to participate in the event must be approved by the Town of Oakville, and must provide a certificate of Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance in the value of $5 million naming “The Corporation of the Town of Oakville, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville Ontario, L6H 0H3” as an Additional Insured. This includes, but is not limited to, chair rental companies, florists, decorators, photographers, videographers, DJs, sound equipment companies, etc.
The Town of Oakville retains the right to prohibit the delivery, installation or use of any items or materials on municipal property.
