There are many steps involved in the development of land, individual properties or large tracts of land within the Town. The Development Services department reviews applications and conducts inspections in accordance with the Town's policies and by-laws and other applicable law. In addition to Town permits and by-laws governed by Development Services there may be additional Town approvals through
Planning Services for development proposals or
Building Services for building permits. Certain lands may also be subject to approvals and permits from other jurisdications.
To develop a property, one or more of the following applications may be required:
- For lands abutting the QEW, 403 and 407, MTO restricitons and approvals may apply. Please download the Drainage Approval Guidelines pamphlet (pdf) and visit the MTO website.
- Lands abutting watercourses may be subject to approvals from Conservation Halton or Credit Valley Conservation Authority depending on the development's location.
- All sanitary sewers, municipal water and certain roads fall under the jurisdiction of Halton Region.
