Event Information

Enjoy an afternoon of family fun on Oakville’s beautiful lakefront at the Mayor’s Historical Picnic in the Park. Everyone is welcome at this event hosted by the Oakville Historical Society and admission is FREE! Bring a picnic lunch and lawn chairs. Live music, dancing and family fun in Lakeside Park.

There will be a draw for a gift certificate and the chance to register with the Oakville Historical Society to join in programming throughout the year.

Come and celebrate Oakville's 190th and view the display theme "Oakville Celebrates" which highlights Oakville's rich heritage. To help with this, there will be a short play based on real characters from Oakville's early days to help bring the past to life.

Bring the kids! Help search for the ghosts of Oakville and get them to sign a Picnic Passport. How many signatures can you get?

Happy Birthday Canada!

To celebrate Canada's 150th birthday, any couples who will be celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary anytime in 2017 are asked to submit a picture of the bride and groom along with a current picture of the bride and groom if possible.

Couples who are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2017 and are pre-registered with the OHS are invited to join in a walk-about in Lakeside Park.   Registered couples will also receive a congratulatory certificate signed by His Worship Rob Burton, Mayor of Oakville. Any couple who has been married for more than 50 years may also join in the walk-about in the park.
