Graffiti Hotline

Graffiti is a growing concern across the GTA. To deal with this issue, more communities are taking a hard look at graffiti and its subculture of urban art. Illegal graffiti is not tolerated in our community and will be removed. As we explore the reasons behind graffiti, we begin to understand how we can move toward an inclusive approach to this form of artwork to foster individuality, creativity and positive goal-setting in our youth. We believe that youth must be given the opportunity to express themselves through urban art projects.

Research shows that:

  • Urban art projects minimize illegal graffiti and street crime.
  • Urban art projects give youth a voice, a meaningful goal to work toward, a sense of belonging, and higher self-esteem.
  • Urban art projects transform the lives of youth and lead them on the path to success.

Report Graffiti
The Town will aim to remove the graffiti within 72 hours. If the graffiti is racist or obscene in nature, or identifies a particular individual, the Town will remove it immediately and report it to the Halton Regional Police Service. In some instances, Town staff is required to report the graffiti to the appropriate organization if it is not on Town "property" (e.g., utility pedestals or Canada Post boxes) and coordinate the clean-up with these organizations.
