Hours of operation:
Open year-round, 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., seven days a week (closed on stat. holidays).
If you've been to the facility recently, you may have noticed some changes and we're working on a few more. Over the past few months we've focused on making upgrades to the building while honouring the summer programs. We're now finalizing the arrangements for the upcoming season.
Here's what we've done:
- Upgraded hot water storage to meet the needs of the two ice pads
- Upgraded the change room showers to make them more energy efficient
- Improved the heating, ventilation and air conditioning units
- Purchased a second ice resurfacer to meet usage demands
- Repaired a brine leak
- Issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the operation of the restaurant and lobby concession
Here's what we're doing:
- Redesigning the front lobby to include a reception desk
- Installing various control systems to help reduce electrical, gas and water consumption
- Installing drying units to make year-round operation of the two small ice pads possible - currently they are only in operation six months of the year
- Installing a generator to provide back-up power during power outages
- Adding lights to the parking lot to meet Town standards
- Temporarily operating the concession during games (until RFP is awarded)
Here's what we plan to do in the near future:
- Provide more - and affordable - ice time to non-profit minor sports groups
- Operate all four ice pads year-round
- Ensure that one-on-one hockey and skating instruction as well as hockey camps are available to the community
- Provide skate sharpening services
- Open the concession during games
For the upcoming season, the major users of this facility will be our minor sport groups. We are also very pleased that the Oakvillle Blades will continue to operate here.
