Getting Remarried after a Divorce - Canadian Divorce
If a previous marriage was dissolved or annulled within Canada, the original or court certified copy of the Decree Absolute or Certificate of Divorce must be submitted when applying for a marriage licence. A divorce judgement is not acceptable.

How to get your Certificate of Divorce - The papers you received from your lawyer at the time of your divorce should list the location of the court where the divorce was granted. You need to take your papers with you to the specified courthouse, and they will give you a Certificate of Divorce - usually on the same day. If you cannot get to the courthouse, you will have to call them, and have it mailed or couriered to you. The Service Ontario website contains information on getting remarried after a divorce.

Foreign Divorce
If an applicant has been granted a divorce outside of Canada, authorization from the Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations must be obtained before a marriage licence may be issued. For details on how to obtain this authorization, visit the "Service Ontario" website or contact the Clerk's Department for additional requirements.
