Mayor's softball tournament to benefit CLO and KSM

Registration opens for organizations wanting to participate

Oakville, February 5, 2010 - For Immediate Release
Mayor Burton announced on Friday that Community Living Oakville (CLO) and Kerr Street Ministries (KSM) will be equal beneficiaries of the 2010 Mayor's Invitational Softball Tournament. In 2009 the tournament raised over $100,000 for the KSM Dream Centre.

"CLO and KSM are two important charities in Oakville that both provide innovative programs to support disadvantaged members of our community and help them with their daily lives," said Mayor Burton. "This tournament is a fun way to bring the community together in support two great causes. It does get competitive, and I hope the players are getting ready for spring training."

The Oakville Professional Firefighters Association will be looking to repeat as champions this year. Last year's tournament featured 12 teams representing organizations from around Oakville.

The tournament will be held on July 15 at Glenashton and Trafalgar parks and will include dinner and entertainment in the evening. Twenty teams are expected to participate in this year's tournament and organizations interested in participating should contact the Mayor's Office directly.
