The following guidelines will help you in the preparation of your application for a
Building Permit;
- Plans, specifications and a completed application form are official documents and therefore must be prepared in a professional manner
- Plans must be drawn to scale in ink or blueprint
- Plans must be fully dimensioned in either metric or imperial units, but not a combination of both
- Remember that the drawings that accompany your application will represent the project you propose to build
- Any deviations between the approved documents and the work on site will cause you unnecessary delays
In some instances, your drawings must be designed, stamped, signed and dated by an Architect and / or a Professional Engineer; details for this requirement are available upon request. Where this requirement is applicable, a Letter of Undertaking from the owner and General Review Commitment Certificate from the Architect and / or Professional Engineer is required. These forms are available from the Building Services Department.
