What are the hours of operation for Town Hall?
The Town Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

What is a Commissioner of Oaths?
A Commissioner of Oaths is empowered by legislation to administer and witness the swearing of oaths.

Where do I get a birth, death or marriage certificate?
Application forms for birth, death and marriage certificates are available from the ServiceOntario website. You can also pick up application forms at the Clerk's department on the second floor of Oakville Town Hall at 1225 Trafalgar Road. Births
All new births in Oakville must be registered with the Registrar General. You can obtain forms from the ServiceOntario website, or by mailing an application to the Registrar General's Office. Parents may register their child's birth and apply for a birth certificate and a social insurance number (SIN) all at the same time.

For parents who do not wish to submit a birth registration online, a hard copy of the application form may be picked up at the Clerk's department on the second floor of Town Hall. Detailed instructions on how to fill out the form and the mailing address are available with the form.

Marriages
Marriage Licences are issued by the Clerk's department. For more information visit our Marriage Licences web page.

How do I arrange a civil wedding ceremony?
Civil ceremonies are offered by the Clerk's department.  For more information, visit our Civil Marriage Services page. 

My wallet was stolen. What do I do?
Visit the the Government of Ontario website and select "Life Events" from the list of popular topics. Then select "Losing Your Wallet." Additional information specific to Oakville can be found at the Halton Community Information website.

How do I obtain assistance in paying the fee for a recreation program?
The Recreation and Culture department has a recreation connection fund that provides assistance with program fees. Assistance is based on household income. For details, please contact 905-845-6601, ext. 3155.

Can I put up a clothesline?
Yes.

Who looks after trees that are diseased or dying on town property?
The Parks and Open Space department looks into municipal trees that are damaged or diseased and require attention. If you see municipal trees that need attention, please contact Parks and Open Space at 905-845-6601, ext. 3395 or parks@oakville.ca.

Who looks after trees on the boulevard?
For information on boulevard trees, contact Parks and Open Space at 905-845-6601, ext. 3395 or parks@oakville.ca.

Who do I call about damage from a snow plough?
Contact Roads and Works at 905-338-4392, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For after-hours emergencies, call 905-845-6606.

Who picks up garbage, appliances and large items?
The Region of Halton arranges for scheduled garbage pick-up once a week. Metal items and appliances are collected on a call-in basis only. Please do not place metal items or appliances along the curb on your scheduled garbage or bulk collection day.

To arrange a date for collection of metal items and/or appliances, call Halton Region at 311, or 905-825-6000, or toll free at 1-866-4Halton (1-866-442-5866), or TTY at 905-827-9833, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Please call prior to placing material out for collection.

Where do I place my garbage for pick up?
You can place all collectable waste curbside before 7 a.m. on the morning of your collection day, but no sooner than 5 p.m. the evening before.

Who do I call about brush pick-up?
Contact the Region of Halton at 905-825-6000 to find out about brush pick-up. Brush pick-up does not include loose leaf pick-up, which is taken care of by the town. For more information on loose leaf pick-up, contact Roads and Works at 905-338-4392.

Who looks after "oversized or heavy load" permits?
The Engineering and Construction department looks after oversized or heavy load permits. Visit the town's road permits web page for more information.

Who can I call about noisy dogs?
To report any noise nuisance contact the Clerk's department Licensing and By-law services. The Noise By-law restrains and prohibits certain noises. It regulates the times when noise is permitted to occur and what kinds of noise are acceptable. For more information, contact the Clerk's department Licensing and By-law services at 905-815-2010, or clerks@oakville.ca.

Can I pay my fines at Town Hall?
Yes, you can pay your fine in person at Parking Operations on the second floor of Town Hall. The Town of Oakville accepts cash, cheque, Interac, VISA and MasterCard.

Where do I get a curb cut application?
You should apply for a driveway permit if you are going to cut the curb at your driveway. For more information, call 905-845-6601, ext. 3337. 

I'm moving. How and when should I contact Oakville Hydro?
Please contact Oakville Hydro during office hours at least 10 days prior to your move at 905-825-9400 or hydro@oakvillehydro.com.
