The Westoak Trails Skateboard Park is now closed.
Following Council direction to postpone the relocation of the Westoak Trails Skateboard Park to Palermo Park, staff have found a temporary home for the skateboard park at the Glen Abbey Community Centre.
In July, Council agreed that safety concerns and lack of adequate pedestrian access along the north side of Dundas Street were reasons to investigate interim locations. Given the high concentration of youth in the area and with skateboarding facilities and programs being one of the most frequently requested services, the Glen Abbey Community Centre's proximity to the Westoak Trails Skateboard makes it an ideal temporary solution.
The temporary skateboard park at the Glen Abbey Community Centre is expected to be open by August 9, 2010 and is scheduled to be removed on September 10, 2010 to allow for necessary parking requirements as fall programming and activities increase at the centre.
