Standing committees of Council

Standing committees are sub-committees of Council, which review specific issues as identified in their mandates and provide recommendations to Council for its final approval. There are three standing committees of Council as follows:

Administrative Services Committee

Administrative Services Committee meetings are held every four weeks on Monday evenings starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Changes to this meeting schedule may be authorized by Council. An earlier start time may be authorized by the Mayor, when required to ensure enough time is available for the committee to complete coverage of scheduled agenda items.

The Committee shall address administrative issues, primarily relating but not limited to, services within the scope of responsibility of the CAO’s Office and the Corporate Services Commission.  The Committee shall also address the review of corporate policies, appointments of members of the public to advisory committees and other committees established or supported by Council and all issues relating to the internal and external Auditors, including the system of internal control and financial reporting process.

Budget Committee

The Budget Committee shall meet each year, a sufficient number of times as determined by the Committee, to review and make recommendations on the proposed annual operating and capital budgets for the upcoming year. Once established the meetings are posted on the Town’s website.

Community Services Committee

Community Services Committee meetings are held every four weeks on Monday evenings starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Changes to this meeting schedule may be authorized by Council. An earlier start time may be authorized by the Mayor when required, to ensure enough time is available for the committee to complete coverage of scheduled agenda items.

The Committee shall address community service issues including programs, facilities and services afforded to the public, primarily relating but not limited to, services within the scope of responsibility of the Community Services Commission and the Engineering and Construction and Environmental Policy departments of the Community Development Commission.
