Standing committees of Council

Standing committees are sub-committees of Council, which review specific issues as identified in their mandates and provide recommendations to Council for its final approval. There are three standing committees of Council as follows:

Administrative Services Committee

Administrative Services Committee meetings are held every three weeks on Tuesday evenings starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Changes to this meeting schedule may be authorized by Council. An earlier start time may be authorized by the Mayor when required to ensure enough time is available for the committee to complete coverage of scheduled agenda items.

This committee addresses administrative issues, primarily related to the CAO's office and the Corporate Services Commission, which includes the Facilities and Construction Management, Clerk's, Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems + Solutions and Legal departments.

Members: Mayor Rob Burton, Councillors Keith Bird, Pam Damoff, Alan Johnston, Tom Adams, Jeff Knoll and Roger Lapworth.

Budget Committee

The Budget Committee establishes its meeting schedule, which is posted to the Council & Standing Committee calendar. This committee reviews and makes recommendations on the proposed annual operating and capital budgets as submitted by various town departments for the upcoming year.

Members: Mayor Rob Burton, Councillors Tom Adams (Chair), Allan Elgar, Pam Damoff and Alan Johnston.

Community Services Committee

Community Services Committee meetings are held every three weeks on Tuesday evenings starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Changes to this meeting schedule may be authorized by Council. An earlier start time may be authorized by the Mayor when required to ensure enough time is available for the committee to complete coverage of scheduled agenda items.

This committee addresses community service issues including public programs, facilities and services primarily relating to the Infrastructure and Transportation Services Commission, which includes the Engineering and Construction, Roads and Works, Transit, and Environmental Policy departments and the Community Services Commission, which includes the Recreation and Culture, Parks and Open Space and Fire departments.

Members: Mayor Rob Burton, Councillors Cathy Duddeck, Max Khan, Allan Elgar, Dave Gittings, Marc Grant and Ralph Robinson.
