Recreation and Culture Department volunteers are the helping hands for our organization. Volunteer efforts ensure that the quality of life is enhanced for individuals and the community. As a volunteer, you will develop new and valuable skills, meet new people, contribute to the community, gain field experience and build positive self-esteem.
Youth Volunteer Program
This program is a great way to gain valuable work experience as well as completing your high school community service hours. The minimum age for volunteering is 13 years. To become a youth volunteer with the Recreation and Culture Department all those interested must successfully complete a Learn to Lead workshop. This orientation session allows you to learn about the volunteer program and develop some basic leadership skills. Volunteer screening includes application submission, interviews and reference checks. For more information about the Youth Volunteer Program or other volunteer opportunities in the Oakville community, please call 905-845-6601, ext. 3153. Information regarding the next Learn to Lead workshop can be found in the Parks, Recreation and Culture Brochure.
