CAO's statement on 2022 Annual Report

Among our many achievements was the successful conclusion of our 2019–2022 strategic plan, as well ending the town’s two-year COVID-19 state of emergency. I’m pleased to report that despite the pandemic, we completed an impressive number of projects and made headway on many more. I’d like to highlight just a few:

  • Council’s receipt of the Oakville Urban Mobility and Transportation Strategy and direction to hold community consultation
  • The ongoing rollout of our digital transformation, making it easier and faster for developers, contractors, businesses and residents to do business with the town
  • Reductions in the town’s energy use and carbon emissions, putting us on track to meet our 2030 targets
  • Continuing to progress towards creating the town’s first inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility multi-year plan

Now, we’re busy establishing a new long-term strategic plan and an associated four-year action plan to guide the Town of Oakville through to 2026. As we develop this, we’ll be drawing on feedback received from public engagement opportunities during March and April 2023, and from the town’s 2022 Citizen Survey conducted in March 2022 to help identify what matters most to our community.

That citizen survey showed that 93 per cent of our residents are satisfied with town programs and services and 85 per cent are satisfied with their customer service experience. Those impressive numbers reflect our staff’s unwavering commitment to serve this community through challenging times.

Staff also demonstrated that commitment through several charitable events: our spring drive-thru event collecting household items, the firefighters’ drive-thru toy drive and $82,000 in funds raised for United Way.

Through the many accomplishments in 2022, I’m proud to work with such an outstanding team to make Oakville the town of choice for residents and businesses alike.
