The town will be implementing traffic calming infrastructures in three school zones:
- St. Gregory the Great Catholic Elementary School located at 138 Sixteen Mile Drive, project limits are from Preserve Drive to Colton Way
- St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary School located at 1201 Heritage Way; project limits are from Blacksmith Lane to Goldsmith Gate
- Heritage Glen Public School located at 1641 Heritage Way, project limits are from Postmaster Drive to Merchants Gate
Proposed work
The planned traffic calming infrastructure includes:
- Narrowing of driving lanes
- Realignment of driving lanes (lateral shifts)
- Protected bike lanes at existing traffic medians
- Curb extensions
What to expect
- Concrete curb and gutter reconstruction
- Relocation of catch basins
- Driveway restoration
- Asphalt milling and paving
- Additional traffic safety features
- Improved pavement markings and road signs
- Sod restoration
Project scheduling
Construction will begin in October 2023, and it is estimated to take four to eight weeks to complete.
