Community improvement plans allow the town to address areas throughout Oakville, such as downtown main streets, which could be improved by maintenance, rehabilitation, development or redevelopment. A community improvement plan can be developed for designated areas and put in place incentive programs to assist with improvements.
The Livable Oakville Plan enables the creation of community improvement plans, in accordance with the Planning Act, and sets criteria for designating community improvement project areas.
Council approved a Community Improvement Plan for Kerr Village on January 13, 2014. The Kerr Village Community Improvement Plan put in place a pilot Building Façade Improvement Grant Program to support revitalization efforts in Kerr Village. The pilot program was offered from 2014 to 2017. It provided property owners and approved tenants in the Kerr Village area with financial assistance to improve the appearance of building façades and storefronts. The program concluded in 2018.
