Burloak Regional Waterfront Park

Location: Southwest of Burloak Drive, Ward 1

Summary

Halton Region, the City of Burlington and the Town of Oakville are working together on the Burloak Waterfront Park master plan. The master plan was approved by Regional Council in April 2014. Implementation of the plan consists of a number of construction phases.

Grand Opening of West Section, June 29, 2018

The west section of the park will be open for use as of Friday, June 29, 2018. This section has been undergoing construction since early spring. The west parking lot will be available for parking and temporary washrooms have been installed for the duration of the summer.

The features completed in the construction of the west section include:

  • West Lookout
  • Benches along the entire length of the main pathway
  • Picnic areas
  • Final topcoat of the main asphalt pathway
  • Planting of trees and shrubs

Project Timeline

Phase 1 - completed in June 2017

Phase 1 works included:

  • four metre-wide accessible waterfront pathway (base coat asphalt)
  • main gazebo and plaza with seating benches
  • pedestrian guardrail
  • invasive tree and shrub species removal

Phase 2 - opening soon!

Phase 2 includes:

  • Main waterfront pathway topcoat asphalt and seating areas along pathway
  • West lookout
  • East lookout and shade pavilion
  • Demonstration garden and trellis
  • Accessible picnic areas
  • Window to the lake small parking area in the east end
  • Gateway plaza at end of Burloak Drive
  • Lower promenade
  • Launch ramp for canoes
  • Replanting of native trees with more planting planned for a future Phase 3
