The Town of Oakville is happy to welcome the RBC Canadian Open back to the Glen Abbey Golf Club.
This world-class family-friendly event will host many of the world’s best golfers and attract more than 100,000 fans to Oakville during tournament week. As with any event of this size and popularity, certain accommodations are put in place to ensure the well-being of attendees and the surrounding neighbourhood. Here are some things you as a neighbour should know:
Park the car and take a free shuttle from one of these convenient locations.
Tuesday, July 25
Tuesday is FREE for everyone to attend and we welcome all residents to join us and check out the tournament set-up. There will be a military flyover by a H13 Hercules Transport plane during the opening ceremonies between 10 to 10:15 a.m. There may be some brief, minor noise disturbance.
Ditch the car and ride your bike to the Open! A free bike corral will be located on the corner of Dorval Drive and Old Abbey Lane. Users do not require a lock to park your bike. A wristband numbering system is used to match each bike with their owner. The bike corral is open and staffed from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. everyday of the tournament.
Monday, July 24 – Sunday, July 30
The town will post and enforce temporary parking restrictions on roads near the Glen Abbey Golf Club during tournament week between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily. On-street parking will be available outside of these times in areas where parking would normally be allowed for up to three hours. A limited number of temporary on-street parking permits will be available for residents in designated areas.
Saturday, July 29 – Sunday, July 30
To promote a safer pedestrian exit from the event, there will be a short-term closure of the northbound lanes of Dorval Drive from North Service Road to Old Abbey Lane from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday July 29 and Sunday July 30.
There will be a signed detour route along Nottinghill Gate northbound to Upper Middle Road.
For more information regarding parking and road closures, please contact ServiceOakville at email@example.com or 905-845-6601.
