Oakville offers a variety of angling opportunities. Please look for ‘No Fishing’ signs, posted in areas where fishing is not permitted. 

Fishing is permitted:

  • On Sixteen Mile Creek (provided it is not off a bridge or roadway) a minimum of 50 metres upstream of the last upstream dock in the Oakville Harbour.
  • On Bronte Creek north of the Rebecca Street bridge, at Petro Canada Park and other creek access points. 
  • On the outside of the west pier at Bronte Harbour, (on the lake-side, not harbour-side).

Fishing is not permitted at any of the following locations:

  • Beaches: Bronte Beach, Coronation Park Beach, South Shell Park
  • Harbours: For safety, fishing is not permitted in Oakville or Bronte harbours between April 15 and November 15, when the harbours are busy with boat and pedestrian traffic.
  • Piers: Oakville Harbour, Bronte Harbour *exception Bronte West Pier (lakeside only)
  • Shoreline: Bronte Creek south of Rebecca Street Bridge, Busby Park, Hillmer Park, Edgemere Park, Erchless Estates, Riverview Park, Tannery Park, Dingle, and all Storm Water Management Ponds.
