Inclusion and Support Services

The Recreation and Culture department strives to make our programs and services accessible and inclusive to all members of our community including those with intellectual or physical disabilities; attention and behaviour difficulties; vision and hearing impairments; learning disabilities; allergies and medical conditions.

How should I register?

Registration can be completed using our online registration system, by phone at 905-815-2000, mail or in person at Town Hall or any community centre. For more information please contact registration staff at 905-338-4250.

A current Seniors Services 50+ membership is required to register for Seniors Services 50+ programs.

Participant Profile Form

To best service the needs of all program participants, we ask that individuals requiring support services submit a  Participant Profile Form (PDF) with their registration. This information will be shared with instruction staff only. Participants requiring enhanced support services may be required to participate in an intake interview.

Enhanced Support

Even though programs and services are integrated, some individuals may require enhanced support to participate. To request enhanced support, please contact registration staff at 905-338-4250.

Can I attend with my own support worker?

Support personnel are welcome to attend all programs. Staff may request additional personal information from the support worker for emergency purposes.

Express Pass

The admission fee will be waived for a designated support personnel attending drop-in programs to support persons with additional needs. Admission standards and age guidelines apply depending on the program. For more information, please stop by any of the town’s community centres.

Specialized programs

Skates for families with members who have additional needs are offered at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex on Saturdays, 6:15-7:05 p.m. Regular admission fees apply. Visit the Public Skating web page for more information.

Swim Your Way is a community fun swim for people of all abilities. The swim is offered at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre on Tuesdays, 7-8 p.m. and Sundays, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Regular admission fees apply. Visit the Public Swimming web page for more information.
