We are committed to providing high quality town programs and services. And because we offer literally hundreds of them, balancing the priorities of our citizens with effective use of tax dollars is critical. Knowing how well we are meeting your needs and expectations helps Council and staff make more effective use of available funds. It also helps us track our progress toward being the most livable town in Canada.
The Town of Oakville began using a citizen survey for gathering resident feedback in 2001. Now conducted every two years by a third-party agency, the last citizen survey was conducted in January and February, 2017 by market research from Pollara Strategic Insights.
Responses were weighted according to ward, age and gender distributions throughout the town to the most recently available census data, with an overall margin of error of ±3.45 per cent, 19 times out of 20. The next citizen survey will be conducted in 2019.
Citizen satisfaction with town programs and services has remained consistently high since 2009, up four per cent from 2015 at 89 per cent satisfaction in 2017. We will continue to provide responsive, high quality programs and services to meet Oakville’s vision to be the most livable town in Canada.
