Taplow Creek Localized Erosion Protection

Background

The Town of Oakville completed the 2015 town-wide Creek Inventory and Assessment Study (Creek Erosion Study) which identified Taplow Creek, between North Service Road and Pilgrims Way, as a priority due to a high degree of erosion and creek instability. Specifically, erosion was observed in four locations adjacent to residential properties. The Town of Oakville retained Aquafor Beech Ltd to complete a study to look at remedial options at these four locations. The study, following the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (Class EA) was completed in 2017.  The recommended Preferred Alternative out of the study was to carry out local channel realignment and wetland pocket creation.

Project status and construction

Detailed design and permitting is now complete and construction is scheduled for September/October 2018.
