As the province plans for recovery, the town is beginning to carefully and responsibly bring back services and reopen some public spaces, programs and services. Provincial emergency orders and the town’s physical distancing by-law remain in effect. We must all continue to follow guidelines from Public Health officials.
For the protection of Oakville residents and town staff, the town implements Smog, Heat and Extreme Weather Protocols on days when the local air quality and weather may impact health.
Under the direction of either Environment Canada or Halton Region, the town will alert the public via email, Facebook, Twitter and our website.
For more information on how to protect yourself from poor air quality please visit Halton Region's outdoor air quality website.
If a Cold Alert is issued, the town will extend the hours of select recreation centres and libraries as designated warming centres, while during heat alerts the town will extend the hours of select pools, recreation centres and splash pads, please visit the Heat Alert page for information on our warming and cooling centres.
For more information on when a heat alert will be called or how to protect yourself from the symptoms of heat visit the Halton Region Health Department.
