The town is dedicated to providing affordable quality service to the citizens of Oakville. Healthy, responsible employees assure the town's ability to meet and maintain high service standards. It is an expectation of employment that all employees of the town are responsible for their prompt and regular attendance at work.
The town is updating the Attendance Support Program (ASP) which promotes regular attendance and ensures absenteeism is managed through consistent and positive non-disciplinary intervention strategies across all town sites. The ASP addresses innocent or non-culpable absenteeism only. The town recognizes that there are many reasons for innocent absenteeism.
The ASP is based on cooperation between the manager and the employee and emphasizes:
Consistent with other corporate disability management processes, the ASP is intended to extend to employees the internal and/or external support and assistance that may be required to overcome issues that may affect their ability to attend work regularly or return to work after an illness or injury.
