The town is now in Stage 2 of the province’s reopening framework. More town amenities, programs and services are becoming available. Provincial orders remain in effect and we must all follow public health guidelines.
Everyone needs time away from work and we recognize the importance of achieving and maintaining a balance between your career and your personal life. We understand that you have needs beyond the workplace, which is why we offer the following time away from work benefits.
While these policies generally apply to all employees, eligibility is determined by your collective agreement and/or employment status.
The town provides vacation in recognition that employees need rest and relaxation. Annual vacation entitlement for permanent full-time employees and vacation pay to all other employees is in accordance with or exceed legislative requirements.
The town provides time away from work for public holidays in accordance with the Employment Standards Act, 2000.
The town recognizes that employees may require time away from work for personal or other reasons. The Leave of Absence policy and associated procedures allow employees the flexibility to better manage their work and personal lives while meeting operational requirements.
There may be times when an employee's family member's illness may require them to be absent from work due to caregiving responsibilities, treatment needs, etc. Employee's may be eligible for a job-protected unpaid leave under the Employment Standards Act.
