North Oakville Secondary Plans Review

The North Oakville East Secondary Plan and the North Oakville West Secondary Plan, known collectively as the “North Oakville Secondary Plans,” provide a planning framework for the lands north of Dundas Street and south of Highway 407 between Ninth Line in the east and Tremaine Road in the west. The North Oakville Secondary Plans are not part of the Livable Oakville Plan but endure as amendments to the town’s 2006 Official Plan.

Review

The North Oakville Secondary Plans Review was initiated in May 2017 when the Livable Oakville Council Sub-Committee received the report entitled North Oakville Secondary Plans Review. This study is a component of the town’s ongoing Official Plan Review.

The purpose of the North Oakville Secondary Plans Review (NOSPR) is to review the North Oakville Plans as required by the Planning Act. This is being undertaken in conjunction with the Official Plan Review of Livable Oakville. It is a major component of the NOSPR to bring the North Oakville Plans into the Livable Oakville Plan so that the town has one official plan document.

The NOSPR is being undertaken in two parts. Part 1 is focused on matters to be addressed in the short-term through policy revisions to the North Oakville Plans outlined in official plan amendments (OPAs) 321 and 322. Part 2 of the NOSPR consists of a set of matters to be addressed in the long-term through the balance of the study.

Approval history of OPAs

OPA 321 and OPA 322 were adopted at the June 11, 2018 Planning and Development Council. Halton Region approved with modifications OPA 321 and approved OPA 322 on September 21, 2018.

OPA 321 Appeal – Case No. PL18081
The Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) received an appeal to OPA 321 and a case management conference was held on June 3, 2019. A site specific policy was approved by the Tribunal, as outlined in its order issued on July 2, 2019.

Statutory Public Meeting and Recommendation Report - June 11, 2018

Public Information Meeting - December 6, 2017

Livable Oakville Council Sub-Committee

The Livable Oakville Council Sub-Committee received a policy directions report for the North Oakville Secondary Plans Review at their meeting of November 6, 2017.

The report identified areas of concern that should be addressed in the short-term through policy revisions to the North Oakville Plans. A second set of matters were identified in the report that will be addressed in the long-term through the balance of the Review.
