While the town remains in Stage 3, some town recreation programs are temporarily paused in response to an increase of COVID-19 cases in Halton. Provincial orders remain in effect and we must all follow public health guidelines.
Town-owned cemeteries are open. Safety protocols will be in place to ensure physical distancing is maintained. In Stage 3 of Ontario’s re-opening plan, attendance limits have increased for funerals and visitations to 50 people. There are exceptions if using a funeral home. Please contact your funeral home or the cemetery office for details.
If a death has occurred, the town will continue to provide essential plot sale, burial and funeral services (by appointment only) to ensure those in need are served during this challenging time.
Please call 905-845-6601 to make an appointment or for more information.
Established in 1958, the Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery is on 30 acres of peaceful, forested greenspace overlooking Sixteen Mile Creek. A pond, beautiful flower beds and a wide variety of tree species — many specifically chosen for memorial trees — make the surroundings especially pleasant.
A variety of lots are available, including single and family lots for adult, infant, child and cremated remains. The cemetery accommodates flat markers, pillow markers and upright markers. The new Pondview section has recently been opened for full burial and cremated remains with upright markers.
When Trafalgar Township amalgamated with Oakville, the operations of the cemetery were assumed by the Cemetery Board of the Corporation of the Town of Oakville. Today, the cemetery is operated and maintained by the Parks and Open Space department.
The gates at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery are locked from sunset to sunrise.
