Fire Recruitment Key Dates

This is a guideline and is intended for reference purposes only. All dates and stages are subject to change at the discretion of the town. Only a select number of candidates will proceed through each stage of the recruitment process.

Commencement of Recruitment

Date: Thursday, January 23, 2020

The Town of Oakville will start its 2020 Fire Fighter Recruitment on Thursday, January 23, 2020.

Applications will only be accepted online.

Deadline for Applications

Date: Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 4 p.m.

The deadline to apply online is 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

1st Interviews

Dates: Monday, February 10 to Friday, February 21, 2020

Interviews will be conducted over this period. Interviews will be conducted by a Selection Committee who will interview candidates based on qualifications. The town will also consider such factors as, but is not limited to: work experience, education related to fire fighting and community volunteer service.

2nd Interviews

Dates: Thursday, February 27 to Friday, March 13, 2020

Second interviews will be conducted over this period.

Additional screening, testing and/or assessments

Dates: Tuesday, March 17 to Wednesday, April 8, 2020

Any additional screening, testing and/or assessments deemed necessary by the Selection Committee will be conducted over this period.

Conditional Offers of Employment

Date: Thursday, April 9, 2020

Candidates selected for employment will be notified by 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2020 with a conditional offer of employment. Those candidates not selected will also be notified.

Confirmed Offers of Employment

Once candidates have successfully met all conditions of employment, candidates will receive a confirmed offer of employment.

Employment Start Date

Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2020 (tentative)

The Town of Oakville anticipates a Tuesday, May 5, 2020 start date.
