Great Lakes Boulevard Reconstruction

The Town of Oakville is currently in the process of completing the reconstruction and widening of Great Lakes Boulevard from Burloak Drive to Rebecca Street.

Project Scope

The scope of work for this project involves widening the existing two-lane semi-urban cross section to a four-lane urban cross-section.  This widening will occur entirely on the west side of the existing roadway which will serve as the future southbound travel lanes.  The existing travel lanes will be maintained and resurfaced, and will serve as the future northbound travel lanes.  Several other improvements will be completed as part of this project including:

  • The addition of on-road bike lanes in both directions.
  • A landscaped centre median with turf and trees.
  • Construction of a multi-use asphalt pathway along the west-side boulevard.
  • Traffic signal modifications.
  • Geometric improvements at the intersections.
  • Full LED roadway illumination.

Construction Schedule

Construction will begin in September 2017 and will be substantially complete in December, 2017.

There will be no road closures permitted as part of this contract.  To facilitate construction, lane restrictions may be required, however, we will strive to minimize this.
