With the announcement of a cabinet shuffle in Queen’s Park, Halton MPP Indira Naidoo-Harris has been appointed to serve as the Associate Minister of Finance. Under this role, Minister Naidoo-Harris will be charged with heading the Ontario Regional Pension Plan.

“Indira Naidoo-Harris’ appointment to cabinet is a welcome sign for the town of Oakville and Halton Region as a whole,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. “I congratulate her and wish her the best of luck as she takes on this important new position.”

Naidoo-Harris was first elected to represent Halton in 2014, and has since served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and Long Term Care. Prior to her election, Naidoo-Harris worked as a broadcast journalist and for Minister Charles Sousa while he served as the citizenship and immigration minister.

Oakville will now be represented by two provincial cabinet ministers, as Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn continues his work as labour minister.

“I am pleased to see that Oakville is so well-represented within the provincial cabinet,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. “Both Minister Naidoo-Harris and Minister Flynn have been excellent partners for Oakville, and I look forward to continuing our work together.”
