The Corporation of the Town of Oakville (town) is committed to fostering and encouraging creativity through its support of a Public Art Program, maintaining a Corporate Art Collection, and facilitating an Exhibition Program at town facilities.
To manage the town’s visual arts assets, ensure opportunities for presentation and exhibition, and improve the quality of Oakville’s built environment.
This policy applies to the Town of Oakville and visual arts-related activities within town boundaries, in accordance with established procedures, including acquisition, accession and de-accessioning.
The Visual Arts policy is to be administered by the Recreation and Culture department.
Visual art: art forms created primarily for visual perception and includes fine art, applied arts, decorative arts and fine art crafts such as but not limited to drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, fine art photography, video, filmmaking, fibre art, ceramics, design and architecture.
