Oakville hosts health information fair for seniors on May 3, 2014

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

Free event helps seniors and caregivers navigate the health care system

The Town of Oakville’s Seniors Working Action Group will host an exciting information fair on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre for Seniors. Navigating the Health Care System will feature more than 25 exhibitors and experts on support programs and services for older adults.

“The fair is intended to provide one-stop shopping, where attendees can walk around, pick up brochures and speak directly with representatives from various agencies,” said Nancy Beddoe, manager of Seniors Services for the Town of Oakville. “Whether you’re looking for information for your parents or yourself, you’ll find it here.”

Attendees will learn about home support programs, transportation services, ways to enhance senior health, safety and well-being and more!

Highlights include:

  • Representatives from the new Oakville Hospital, including a video and images of the state-of-the-art facility.
  • A pharmacist to answer medication related questions.
  • Expert guidance on navigating health-related websites.

Admission to the fair is free and the first 200 attendees will receive a free reusable bag from Whole Foods Market! Refreshments are available for purchase. Everyone is welcome.

The Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre for Seniors is located at 1565 Old Lakeshore Road in Oakville.
