Oakville Children’s Festival makes its debut July 27!

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Town of Oakville and Tim Hortons present new arts and culture event at Coronation Park

Are you ready for some family-friendly fun in the sun? The Town of Oakville and Tim Hortons are gearing up for the first-ever Oakville Children’s Festival on Sunday, July 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Coronation Park.

Oakville’s beautiful lakeside park will be transformed into an arts and culture playground for kids of all ages, with free live performances, food vendors, and fun events to engage young imaginations and foster creativity. Main stage headliners include: Sharon, Bram & Friends; Sheesham & Lotus; Jack Grunsky; and Corpus – Les moutons.

Exciting opportunities for fun and learning will be found throughout the park with interactive building and art activities, yoga and dance lessons, reptile, magic and science shows, kids’ play zone and obstacle course, face painting and more!

“There’s a lot of buzz in the community about the new Oakville Children’s Festival,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. “Join us at Coronation Park to enjoy live performances and arts and culture workshops. Take our free Oakville Transit shuttle from the Bronte GO station or ride your bike and park in the free bike corral.”

Additional highlights include balloon artists, characters and storytellers that are sure to capture the curiosity of young minds while encouraging participation and discovery.

“Tim Hortons is proud to sponsor this unique event and support opportunities for kids to discover the power of their imaginations,” said Julie Granger, Tim Hortons Regional Marketing Manager.

Coronation Park is located at 1426 Lakeshore Road West. The free Oakville Transit shuttle service from Bronte GO Station will begin at 9:30 a.m. with buses operating every eight minutes to and from the festival. The last shuttle will leave Coronation Park at 5 p.m.

The Kinsmen Club of Oakville will kick off the festival with a pancake breakfast starting at 9:30 a.m. when the gates open. Enjoy three pancakes, two sausages, and coffee or juice for just $5 per person.

Visitors are reminded to bring sunscreen, a blanket, and a refillable bottle for use at the free water bars. The Town of Oakville is committed to providing smoke-free outdoor spaces where kids play. Due to large crowds and event excitement, visitors are encouraged to leave their pets at home.

Festival admission is free and the event will take place rain or shine. Visit the Oakville Children's Festival page for the full event schedule.
