Council appoints Vicki Tytaneck as new town clerk

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

Town Council unanimously approved the appointment of Vicki Tytaneck to the position of town clerk at its meeting on July 21, 2014. Ms. Tytaneck joined the Clerk’s department at the Town of Oakville in 2004 and has served as acting town clerk since January of this year.

“On behalf of Town Council, I want to say how pleased we are to appoint Vicki to her new position,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. “In addition to being highly qualified, Vicki’s collaborative approach to getting things done will serve her well in her new role as town clerk.”

As town clerk, Vicki will take on responsibility for preparing Council agendas, recording Council proceedings, maintaining town records, managing the town’s response to freedom of information requests, and ensuring fair and open municipal elections. In addition, the town clerk is also responsible for by-law and licensing services for the Town of Oakville.

“I am very honoured to be appointed to this position,” said Tytaneck. “Oakville is a great community and I really welcome the opportunity to continue to build on the positive relationship that exists between Council, staff and the community.”

Prior to joining the town, Vicki gained additional municipal experience and knowledge through a variety of leadership roles with the City of Etobicoke including freedom of information coordinator and manager of legislative services. Vicki also led the harmonization of several municipal processes under the amalgamated City of Toronto.
