Mon, 14 Sep 2015

Residents invited to enjoy free music, dance, theatre and art activities at QEPCCC

Oakville is showcasing its love of culture by inviting residents to take part in activities that explore music, dance, visual arts and theatre as part of a nation-wide celebration of Culture Days taking place on Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC).

“Culture Days is a great opportunity for residents to learn about and celebrate the diverse community we have in Oakville,” said Mayor Rob Burton. “I encourage everyone to attend and share in the cultural celebration.”

This year’s lineup includes the following highlights: Maderaz Interactive Latin Music Show, Theatresports presented by the Oakville Improv Theatre Company, Interactive Knitting with the Oakville Association of Knitters and Crocheters, Dance for Couples, Culture Days Ceramics Family Drop-in, Story Time with the Oakville Public Library, Early Childhood Music Class with the Oakville Suzuki Association, and caricature portraits with Cartoon Bob.

A full schedule of events and registration details are available on the Culture Days page. Online registration is now open for select programs. Pre-registration opens on September 26, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at QEPCCC.

Participants are also encouraged to share photos of their Culture Days activities on Twitter or the town’s Facebook page with #CultureDaysOakville for a chance to win a $100 Recreation and Culture program credit. For contest details, visit oakville.ca.

Culture Days is a grassroots nation-wide movement that aims to raise awareness, participation and engagement in the arts and cultural life of Canadian communities.
