Same content, new look! The town has introduced a mobile-friendly oakville.ca with an updated format that automatically adjusts to the screen size of any smartphone or tablet – no need to pinch or expand screens to access content or interact with the site.
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance our online tools to help the public access information and services as quickly and easily as possible,” said Mayor Rob Burton. “With a mobile-friendly design, the website is an even more useful resource for our community.”
This recent update to oakville.ca is the first phase of a broader initiative to improve the town’s web presence. As part of the town’s web and digital strategies and commitment to providing outstanding services for residents, a comprehensive review of the website is set to begin this fall to identify additional enhancements to further improve the online experience for visitors. The website’s mobile-friendly format also provides a good foundation for the development of more online services and innovative solutions to be available on oakville.ca in the future.
Citizens are encouraged to complete a short questionnaire to share what they like, don’t like, and ideas for further site improvements. The town is also asking interested individuals to join a voluntary community group to receive invitations to engage with the town on the design of new online services as they are developed.
The results of the town’s 2017 Citizen Survey show that 73 per cent of Oakville residents choose the town’s website as their preferred way to access key information on town programs and services.
