The Town of Oakville’s 2017 Annual Report is now available online, providing Oakville residents with an overview of the town’s financial health and how resources are being used. The report also includes a snapshot of the town’s key achievements in delivering on the goals set out in Council’s 2015-2018 Strategic Plan.
“Our annual report shows that the town works just as hard on maintaining strong financial health and good fiscal management as we work on always lifting our livability,” Mayor Rob Burton said. “I am proud to share the facts and figures of our success with residents and community partners who I believe are just as passionate about Oakville's future as Council and I are.”
The town’s external auditors, KPMG, have again provided an unqualified audit opinion on the Consolidated Financial Statements. An unqualified, or “clean” audit opinion indicates that the financial statements prepared by the town are a fair presentation of the town’s financial position and financial results for the past year.
The town’s work is driven by Council’s five key areas of focus, as outlined in the Strategic Plan: good governance, environmental leadership, economic growth, fiscal sustainability and outstanding service to residents. Some of the town’s accomplishments in 2017 include:
“Our accomplishments in 2017 went into the calculations by MoneySense Magazine in the new 2018 ranking of Oakville as the ‘Best Place to Live in Canada’,” Mayor Burton said. “This recognition inspires us to keep working together as a community to make Oakville the best town it can be.”
