Interested in running in Oakville’s municipal or school board elections this fall?

Nomination deadline is July 27, 2018 at 2 p.m.

Individuals looking to run for office in Oakville’s 2018 municipal or school board elections must file their nomination papers with the Clerk’s department by 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27.

Nominations are being accepted for the Office of Mayor, Town Councillors, Town and Regional Councillors, Regional Chair, and school board trustees. Candidates may complete and file nomination forms at the Clerk’s department at Town Hall during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) until July 26, and between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 27. Forms are available online on our Elections page and in the Clerk’s department. It is strongly recommended that individuals interested in running make an appointment to file nomination papers to avoid delay. Appointments can be made by calling the Clerk’s department at 905-815-6015.

Candidates must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older and legally permitted to vote and hold office. Candidates must live, own or rent property in the Town of Oakville or be the spouse of an owner or renter. The term of elected office will be from December 1, 2018 to November 14, 2022.
