The Town of Oakville’s Summer Cultural Connection event series returns on June 2 and this year it’s expanding beyond the downtown core.
Now in its fourth season, Summer Cultural Connection presented by FirstOntario Credit Union features family-friendly activities, outdoor games and unique pop-up events in various parks throughout town complemented by a weekly farmers market in downtown Oakville every Saturday until October 6.
“These unique arts and cultural experiences are a great opportunity for residents to get outside, enjoy the summer weather and have fun with their family,” said Mayor Rob Burton.
In August, residents can look forward to Peace by Piece, an outdoor event showcasing the delicate Japanese tradition of origami. Participants will create paper cranes that will be incorporated into the Peace by Piece: 1000 Cranes Origami Project art installation scheduled to be unveiled during the International Day of Peace on September 21.
“FirstOntario is committed to building community connections through local initiatives,” said James Lefebvre, senior vice president, Member Experience and Business Services, FirstOntario Credit Union. “We’re proud to be part of this exciting event series and what it will bring to Oakville.”
The farmers market takes place every Saturday between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on George Street at Lakeshore Road.
Visit the Summer Cultural Connection page for a complete list of events. New events will be posted once confirmed.
