Oakville Children’s Festival returns August 17 at Queen Elizabeth Park

Tue, 04 Jun 2019

Active and creative experiences throughout the park to complement live performances

Mark your calendar! Juno Award-winning singer songwriter Norman Foote will hit the stage with his unique blend of music at the 2019 Oakville Children’s Festival on Saturday, August 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC). Families can expect to dance and sing along to hits like Everybody Sings, Love My New Shirt and Always Be Yourself.

“Town Council is committed to ensuring that residents have high-quality events and programming to choose from year-round,” said Mayor Rob Burton.  “The Oakville Children’s Festival headline acts are among the biggest names in children’s entertainment. In addition to Norman Foote, I’m told that we should expect some other very special surprise guests on August 17.”

Also included in the festival line-up are performances by the Lumberjack Show, the eclectic Zoosemobile, stunt ventriloquist Tim Holland, the Ben Show, and CanSpin Awards Hooper of the Year Isabella Hoops.

Visitors will enjoy fun hands-on activities and interactive shows including Fire Safety Zone, City Parent Scavenger Hunt, Friends of the Library Book Sale, art and building workshops, seedling plantings, dance groups, recreation, sports and science activities, face painting, free indoor swimming, and more.

Food offerings include the Kinsmen Club of Oakville BBQ lunch, plus many of the GTA’s most popular food trucks. Alternatively, attendees are encouraged to bring a litterless lunch and a reusable bottle for use at the festival water stations.

The Oakville Children’s Festival will once again take place on the grounds of QEPCCC at 2302 Bridge Road. Attendees are encouraged to take the free Oakville Transit shuttle from the Bronte GO Station or cycle to take advantage of the free bike parking onsite. Vehicle parking is not available onsite and on-street parking restrictions will be enforced throughout the neighbourhood.

Festival admission is free and the event will take place rain or shine. Additional acts and activities will be announced as they are confirmed. Visit our Oakville Children's Festival page for event updates.

The town is recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to help with the festival. Apply online! Send an email to ocfvolunteers@oakville.ca.
