Oakville offering more permit applications online

Development engineering permits now online. Three more applications coming later this year.

The Town of Oakville is adding more permit applications online to make it easier and faster for developers, contractors, businesses and residents to do business with the town. The online process enables them to submit, make payments, manage and track the status of applications. 

Starting today, the latest addition to the town’s online services includes the development engineering permits, and by the end of May, sign permits and noise exemption permits will be added, and later this year, planning and development-related applications will transition to an entirely online process.  

These enhancements are part of the Digital Oakville Plan with the town launching more projects in 2022 and beyond.  

Key highlights

• Development engineering permits (e.g. for residential rebuilds or additions, pool installation, major landscaping, new or upgrades to driveways etc.) are available on the town’s online services page under “Planning and Construction”
• End of May, sign permits (for temporary or permanent signs) and noise exemption permits (for events, construction, filming etc.) will be available on the same page under the “Sign & Noise Permits” section
• Individuals who require support with their online applications can contact ServiceOakville at 905-845-6601 for assistance 
• These enhancements complement the work that began last year when building permits (and booking inspections) were made fully online
• Using a “build-measure-learn” approach, the town will use feedback on the new process to guide future improvements to the online applications
