The Town of Oakville is continuing with efforts to mitigate speeding on roads in elementary school zones where speeds exceed warrant thresholds. The town has developed physical traffic calming measures aimed at reducing vehicle speeds by making it uncomfortable for motorists to travel at excessive speeds.
Speeding problems which warrant mitigation have been identified along Stanfield Drive in the vicinity of Gladys Speers School. To address such problems, the town is proposing to install physical traffic calming measures in the form of speed cushions and flexible bollards. The town has found these measures to be effective in reducing vehicle speeds without adversely affecting emergency service agencies. The project team invites adjacent stakeholders to review the proposed design plans at the Public Information Centre (PIC).
The PIC will give directly affected stakeholders an opportunity to provide input on the final design. Once designs are finalized staff will move ahead with implementation. Should you have comments or concerns and are unable to attend the PIC, please contact:
