As the province plans for recovery, the town is beginning to slowly bring back services and reopen some public spaces. Provincial emergency orders and the town’s physical distancing by-law remain in effect. We must all continue to follow guidelines from Public Health officials.

The following request for report was approved by Council on April 28, 2014.
That staff be requested to report back with a two-part report as soon as possible to provide Council with:
a) a master plan summary document to serve as a comprehensive reference tool to tie together all of Council’s current initiatives for the three Business Improvement Areas (BIAs); and
b) a work status outline with updated recommendations for measures of short, medium and long term assistance with the necessary public consultations and public communications plans for the Downtown Oakville business area to serve as a comprehensive road map for the next six years, expressed in the three successive, two-year periods ahead for the Downtown Oakville BIA that can be thought of as:
Recovery by all of the business districts from winter with such measures as staff may recommend and Council may approve (such as a free parking program).
Renewal of downtown Lakeshore roadbed, pipes and streetscape with such construction impact mitigation and other measures as staff may recommend and Council may approve.
Rejuvenation and marketing of the Downtown Oakville district with such marketing and other measures as staff may recommend and Council may approve.
