Residents asked to not use Deer Run Avenue laneway

Wed, 25 Mar 2015

Over the years, many residents have become accustomed to using the laneway off Deer Run Avenue to access Winston Churchill Boulevard. Please be advised that this laneway is not a public road, as it crosses land owned by Heusel Construction. Heusel Construction agreed to provide the laneway as an emergency access route to Deer Run Avenue as part of the original conditions of approval for the subdivision agreement.

Although the town has made improvements to the laneway over the years to ensure safe access for emergency safety vehicles, it is not intended for public use.

The town is continuing negotiations with Mr. Heusel to resolve this issue. However, until there is a resolution, we ask that you respect the property rights of Mr. Heusel. Over the next few days, the town will be installing temporary signage to remind drivers of the purpose of the laneway, and to ensure the laneway continues to be accessible for emergency vehicles.
