Planning and Development Council meeting
Monday, April 13, 2015
Town Hall, Council Chamber — 7 p.m.
The discussions on the Downtown Transportation and Streetscape Study will continue at the April 13, 2015, Planning and Development Council meeting.
At the March 10, 2015, Council meeting, staff presented the final staff report on the Downtown Transportation and Streetscape Study (DTS), inviting much discussion from Council and delegates on the many opportunities to renew and revive the downtown.
Given the significant interest in this project, Council agreed to defer the item to April 13, 2015, allowing the public more time to make presentations before Council makes a decision on the DTS study.
If you were not a delegate at the March 10, 2015, meeting, you will be able to make a full presentation. If you were a delegate, but have new information you would like to share with Council, you may register again as a delegate by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also submit written comments prior to April 13, 2015, by emailing email@example.com.
Outlined in the report, staff made recommendations for a master plan that addresses all the streets within the downtown study area, including a preferred option for the reconstruction of Lakeshore Road East. The recommendations included wider boulevards, better accessibility for all, an on-street cycling network, improvements to street tree planting, streetscape furnishings and materials concept, and conversions from one-way to two-way streets.
Also deferred to the April 13, 2015 meeting, was an update report on the Downtown Cultural Hub and a Downtown Parking Garage Feasibility Study report.
All DTS staff and consultant reports are available on the Downtown Transportation and Streetscape study page. Hard copies are also available for viewing at Town Hall and at all Oakville Public Library branches.
If you have any questions about the study, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
