Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study Notice of Study Completion

Public review of the final report available

The Town of Oakville has completed the Coronation Park Drainage Improvements Class Environmental Assessment and the report is now available for public review of 30 days, commencing July 6, 2017. A Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) was initiated to assess various drainage improvements in the Coronation Park area. The study will inform the development of a comprehensive drainage improvement plan for the Coronation Park community to address current drainage concerns.

The Coronation Park Drainage Improvement Plan includes the following components:

  • Drainage improvements including storm sewer systems on Westminster Drive, Woodhaven Park Drive and Lakeshore Road
  • Coronation Park eastern channel improvements including crossings
  • Ditch improvements adjacent to Lakeshore Road just east of Third Line
  • Various ditch and culvert improvements in the community

The study was completed in compliance with Section A.2.7 Master Plans, as defined in the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) Municipal Class EA document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The study will address Phases 1 and 2 of the Class EA process, and fulfill requirements for Schedule B projects. The Class EA process included consultation with regulatory agencies, stakeholders and the public, including two Public Information Centres that were held during the study. The Coronation Park Drainage Improvement plan incorporates public, local municipal and agency comments received during the course of the study. Under Approach #2, Schedule B projects which are implemented in accordance with the recommendations provided in this Master Plan would not require filing of a Project File for public review before the detailed design and implementation stages.

Subject to any comments received as a result of the Notice of Completion, the Town of Oakville intends to proceed with the recommended next steps as documented in this plan.
