Enbridge Pipelines Inc. removing section of deactivated pipeline at Sixteen Mile Creek

Thu, 12 Jul 2018

Enbridge is removing approximately 50 metres of deactivated crude oil pipeline (Line 12) from the east side of 16 Mile Creek south of Upper Middle Road, and from the west side of the creek within the Glen Abbey Golf Course.

As a result of this work, the Parks and Open Space department will be re-routing trail-users from the eastern bank of the Sixteen Mile Heritage Trail. The trail detour is scheduled to begin on July 13 and to extend until September 15, 2018. Signage in the area will direct foot traffic and cyclists along McCraney Street West and Richmond Road.

Work is expected to take place between July and September 2018. The pipeline was taken out of service in April 2005.

The pipe integrity is sound, there is no product in the line and it has been maintained to protect against corrosion. Enbridge is working closely with the Town of Oakville, Conservation Halton and the Region of Halton throughout the duration of the project. Notification and a complete information package is being sent by Enbridge to residents in the area.
