Planning and Development Council meeting
Monday, June 10 at 7 p.m.
Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Road
The Town of Oakville is implementing a vacant property registry by-law that will regulate vacant properties in the Town of Oakville.
If you are the property owner of a vacant property you will be required to register your property with the town as of January 2020. Municipal enforcement staff will be proactively monitoring properties that appear vacant.
A draft by-law is being presented to Council at the meeting on June 10.
Vacant and unoccupied buildings that are not maintained can become infested with pests, attract trespassers, and have negative impacts on property values. Although the town’s Property Standards By-law addresses some of the issues that vacant properties present, other issues such as ensuring buildings are regularly inspected and have sufficient insurance need to be addressed.
If you wish to speak at the Council meeting, you may register as a delegate with the Clerk’s department by noon the day of the meeting at 905-815-6015 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
