Provincewide shutdown

Effective 12:01 a.m. on December 26, 2020, Oakville is part of the Ontario Government’s Provincewide Shutdown for a period of 28 days.

Holiday closures

Town Hall

Town Hall will be closed at noon on December 24, re-opening on January 4. 

All online services will be available.

To report urgent problems related to roads, traffic lights and signs, parks and trees or storms, call 905-845-6601 to be connected with our after-hours service.

Recreations facilities (community centres, pools, arenas, youth centres and seniors centres)

Please note that starting December 26, Provincial Shutdown orders come into effect. Indoor sports and recreational facilities, including pools, fitness centres and arenas are closed.

All facilities closed:

  • at noon on December 24
  • December 25 and 26
  • at 4 p.m. on December 31
  • January 1

Additional closures:

  • Joshua’s Creek Arena will be closed December 21 through January 3.
  • Sixteen Mile Sport Complex will be closed December 24, 27, January 2 and 3.

Warming Centre:

Trafalgar Park Community Centre will remain open as a warming centre throughout the holidays (December 26, 2020 to January 3, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Starting January 4, 2021, it will be open only on days where Halton Region issues a Cold Alert.

Trafalgar Park outdoor rink

The outdoor rink at Trafalgar Park is closed on December 25.

Trafalgar Park outdoor rink adjusted hours:

  • 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 24
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 26, 31 and January 1

Please refer to the Outdoor Ice Rinks page to check for rink open/closed status.

Use of the outdoor rink at Trafalgar Park requires pre-registered booking. Book your time slot using Active Oakville.


Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts remains closed for live performances.

Oakville Museum

The Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate will be closed December 24 and 25.

Starting December 26, the Museum will be closed as part of the Provincewide Shutdown.


Central Operations

Our Central Operations Depot will be closed December 25, 28 and January 1.


Oakville Public Library

All OPL branches will be closed December 25, 26 and January 1. 

OPL Express at St. Luke’s Community Centre will be closed from December 24 to January 1.

Starting December 26, when the Provincewide Shutdown comes into effect, OPL branches will be closed for in-branch programs and services. Library Takeout will be available for contactless holds pickups.

Fire Administration, Training and Fire Prevention Divisions

Fire Administration will be closed at noon on December 24 and will re-open on January 4.

The Fire Prevention and Fire Training Divisions will be closed on December 25 and 26 and January 1.


Parking

To book temporary overnight parking, please use our online permit system.

Transit Service

For schedule information, visit the Oakville Transit website or call 905-815-2020.

  • December 24 service ends at 9 p.m.. No service after 9 p.m.
  • December 25 Sunday level of service
  • December 26 Sunday level of service
  • December 28 to 31 modified service level with reduced hours or frequency. Service will finish at regular scheduled times on December 31.
  • January 1 Sunday level of service

Dates not listed will maintain regular service.

School specials will not operate the week of December 21 and January 1

Our offices will be closed at noon on December 24, re-opening on January 4.

  • We have scheduled automated posts to share seasonal information from our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts
  • Questions or comments directed to our accounts may not be addressed until January 4, 2021
  • Online services are available for all service requests
  • Program information can be found on our website
  • Active Oakville is available to find and pre-register for drop-in recreation activities
  • After-hours service is available to report urgent problems related to roads, traffic lights and signs, parks and trees or storms by calling 905-845-6601.
