Shepherd Road construction

Wed, 13 Nov 2019

In September, the town closed Shepherd Road to address concerns with the construction site at 58 to 62 Shepherd Road. The town issued an emergency property standards order and retained a structural engineer to assess the condition of the site and identify any safety issues.

Following the structural engineer’s assessment, it was determined that immediate remedial action was required to remedy structural concerns and make the property safe.

Beginning November 18, you will see remedial work taking place and a number of trucks on surrounding roads hauling stone in to the area. Stone will be used to fill the construction hole to a point that supports the walls and maintains structural integrity. At first, trucks will be travelling along Dorval Road, Rebecca Street and Queen Mary Drive to Shepherd Road until the north wall is stabilized. Once that is done, trucks will be able to access the site via Wyecroft Road, Kerr Street and Shepherd Road.

The town has issued a noise exemption to allow work to occur between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. in order to ensure emergency concerns are resolved as quickly as possible. The work is expected to take approximately 20 days to complete, weather dependant.

Current vehicle and truck traffic and pedestrian detours remain in place while the work is carried out. Residents living at 70 Shepherd Road (Rain Condo) will still be able to access Kerr Street from Shepherd Road.

For questions or concerns on the road closure, please contact ServiceOakville at 905-845-6601.
